Leyla Sandshiko
Artist, Designer
Leyla Sandshiko was born in the city of Elista, Russia. She currently lives between Bangkok and Moscow, where her creativity is inspired by both local culture and her roots.
From an early age, Leyla's life was filled with art. However, she initially graduated from the Moscow State University of Management. Later, she founded a successful event management company in Moscow. At the same time, she worked as a designer of clothing and accessories, creating decor for events.
After moving to Thailand in 2012, Leyla began dedicating more time to her long-standing passion—painting.
She most often creates her paintings at night, using dark, passionate shades. Her abstract and conceptual works possess a mystical energy and deep meaning, immersing the viewer in a world of color illusions and profound thoughts. The creative process is healing and meditative, allowing her to overcome fears and sorrows, as well as contemporary issues. In her works, she also addresses social themes using a multimedia approach that includes abstract painting, installations, and performances.
Her series "Counter Punch" reflects a philosophy of struggle and recovery, rooted in her passion for Muay Thai. Each painting is created by striking the canvas with boxing gloves soaked in paint, making her works full of energy and dynamism. This collection symbolizes her philosophy of life: regardless of circumstances, it is important to stand up, survive, be reborn, and follow one's true calling. "Counter Punch" also serves as a love letter to Thailand, its ancient culture, and the art of Muay Thai.
Leyla participates in exhibitions both in Thailand and abroad. Her collaborations with interior designers, as well as partnerships with artists and various brands, make her art relevant and sought after.
