“ITALIAN PLASTIC INJECTION MOULDING TECHNOLOGY: INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS,
SPECIFICALLY IN THE AUTO
AND MOTORCYCLE COMPONENTS SECTOR”
On the 22nd of June, at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok, a seminar took place on Plastic Injection Moulding Technology, specifically on the Auto and Motorcycle Components sector. The event was organized by the Italian Trade Commission in collaboration with Assocomplast, represented for the occasion by Dr. Mario Maggiani.
The local category associations, namely the Thai Plastic Industries Association and the Plastic Industry Club- Federation of Thai Industries, supported the event. The seminar was conducted by the speaker Mr. Arturo Fiocca that has an experience of more then 30 years in the sector and has worked with large companies, such as Bayer Italia and General Electric Plastics.
The audience showed a great interest in the Italian technological reality.
The interaction between the speaker and the audience transformed the seminar in an interactive debate of questions and issues that were raised and discussed.
The seminar focused on the auto sector, being of great importance in today’s reality in Thailand. The auto sector plays a primary role in the Thai industrial asset besides having a great number of innovative applications. Plastic components are substituting metal and glass materials thanks to the characteristics such as light weight, design, safety and low costs.
Thailand’s demand of machinery for working plastic is recording a constant growth in the last three decades, testified by a boost in two figures of the imports (in 2006 the growth was of 25,16% compared to the previous year). Notwithstanding the aggressive presence of countries such as Japan, China and Germany, the Italian production is showing signs of upturn, recording a growth of 7,7% in 2006 (US$17.420.92) compared to the previous year. The prospective for 2007 is even more promising: in the first four months the value of the Italian exports (US$13.347.000) managed to reach a growth of 75% (US$13.347.165) compared to the same period in the year 2006.
The main themes that the speaker Mr. Fiocca touched included:
-Raw materials
-Injection Moulding
-The evolution of the auto industry
-The latest technological developments in injection moulding
-The latest trends and innovations
-The use of recycled materials
The seminar ended with a general auspice to repeat an initiative of this caliber and to have the possibility to deepen various issues presented by the speaker of the seminar and perhaps to arrange specific training courses in the future.
