FROM ITALY WITH LOVE

The Festival “From Italy with love” consisted in three weeks of Italian food promotion at the new supermarket of Central World and at Central Chidlom in Bangkok as well as in 27 Tops Supermarkets throughout Thailand. The project initially took place from the 13th June to the 3rd July. But later, the striking success obtained by the Festival convinced the Italian Trade Commission and the Central extend this promotion for two more weeks, from the 25th July to the mid August 2007.

The grand opening of the Food Festival took place on the 14th of June at Central World, at the presence of her Royal Highness the Princess Soamsawali. The promotion started a flow of a hundred new imports of Italian products and demonstrated that the Italian cuisine can be easily prepared at home and can therefore become a part of everyday life in Thai households. Today, new brands and shapes of pastas can be found in Thai supermarkets. Some of these newly arrived kinds of pasta have a delicate lemon aroma; others have a delicious filling and are exquisitely artesian. More Italian cheeses can be found, such as goat and sheep cheeses that are not well-known in Thailand. There is also a new offer of organic salami and mortadella with a pleasant aroma of pistachios. All in all, a new explosion of colors, fragrances and Italian tastes now gladdens our sight and palates in Thai supermarkets.
The buyers of the Italian products received a small tribute of kitchen tools and, at the end of the promotion, there was a draw of prices for the customers, among which different plane tickets and stays in Italy for two people.

Furthermore, six top chefs accepted the invitation to give cooking lessons in the Central World Supermarket to show how easy it is to prepare Italian recipes with the product available in the Thai supermarkets.
