In occasion of the Italian National Day on the 2nd of June, the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Trade Commission in Bangkok, have joined hands in promoting a wide program of events in the framework of the Italian Festival “Bella Italia”, which took place between May and June 2007.

The Italian Festival has become an annual appointment offering a special glimpse of Italian culture and lifestyle. This is the third edition in Thailand. Italy and Thailand have already a very established relationship and the program of this Festival was intended to further strengthen the feelings of friendship between the two countries.

FILM FESTIVAL

The Italian Film Festival has taken place at La Scala and Lido Movie Theatre from the 21st to the 27th of June. This Festival featured the film production of three famous young Italian directors: Matteo Garrone, Paolo Sorrentino and Emanuele Crialese. These filmmakers are among the most promising young filmmakers in Italy today. In their own way, they all follow the tradition of “Italian Neorealism” focusing on different aspects of reality expressed through an original and personal perspective.more

 

 




FROM ITALY WITH LOVE

The Festival “From Italy with love” consisted in three weeks of Italian food promotion at the new supermarket of Central World and at Central Chidlom in Bangkok as well as in 27 Tops Supermarkets throughout Thailand. The project initially took place from the 13th June to the 3rd July. But later, the striking success obtained by the Festival convinced the Italian Trade Commission and the Central extend this promotion for two more weeks, from the 25th July to the mid August 2007.more

 

 

 

 “ALCISA COLD PLATE CHALLENGE, CHEFS CONTEST FOR THE BEST ANTIPASTO”

On the 29th of June, a cooking contest for the best Italian antipasto took place between seven Italian chefs from seven different Italian restaurants in town.
The event that took place at the Westin Grande Sukhumvit closed the thriving program of initiatives of this year’s Italian festival in Bangkok.. more
