Economic and commercial relations between Italy and Thailand have been steadily growing in the last few years and, today, Thailand represents the second market in South East Asia for Italian exports. The total value of the bilateral trade in the first 5 months of 2006 has been USD 1.233 millions, 11% more than 2005, and Italian exports have grown more than 27% from January to August 2006 compared with the same period in 2005.

The Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce partnering with the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Trade Commission and the “Desk Italy”, newly established in the Office for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises – OSMEP- is further making an effort to pool resources and collaborate in giving easy access to information for Italian and Thai businessmen.
The TICC is focusing its activities on providing a full set of services to companies that wish to develop business projects in Italy and Thailand. In the near future, initiatives will be taken to promote new business opportunities for TICC members, in collaboration with Thai and Italian Institutions (National Chamber of Commerce, Local Authorities, Private Associations), as well as through the implementation of programs funded by EU, the Thai Government and the Italian Government. In this sense, we would like to take the chance to inform you on the latest activities set out in this period under the guidance of the Board of Directors:

The new “Sportello Unico”, i.e. a “One stop service” resulting from the integration of the Commercial Office of the Embassy and the Italian Board of Trade, working in collaboration with the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce, which has been operative since last November helps develop bilateral economic and commercial projects.

Learning Italian. New Agreements between the Embassy of Italy and different Bangkok’s Universities.
For many years, the Italian Section at the Chulalongkorn University has been spreading the knowledge of Italian language amongst Thai students. Starting from this semester also Bangkok University and Thammasat University are organizing courses of Italian language, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy.
