GREAT RESULTS FROM BILATERAL TRADE IN 2006

Commercial and economic ties between Italy and Thailand are growing at a high-speed pace. Thai statistics prospect a total bilateral trade for 2006 at about 2.6 Billion USD (+20.% compared to 2005).

It is estimated that the final figures for Italian exports to Thailand in 2006 will be about 40% higher in values compared to those of 2005. In fact, in the last three years Italian export have been catching up and, with the Thai exports to Italy raising as well, we are in the process of reaching a substantial equilibrium in the trade relations.

Furthermore, a growing number of new investments in Thailand from Italian SMEs have been finalized.

The Italian Trade Commission (ICE) in Bangkok is a government agency entrusted by the Ministry of International Trade to promote trade, business opportunities and industrial cooperation between Italy and Thailand. In this prospective the aim is to help Italian companies to grow in the Thai market, and promote inward-outward investments. (Click here)

EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING OF THE THAI-ITALIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Thai Italian Chamber of Commerce, following the request of one/fifth of its members, organizes an Extraordinary General Meeting on February 9, 2007. The main goal of the Meeting is to adopt ByLaws amendments needed in order to further develop the activities of the Chamber.

ITALIAN CULTURAL EVENTS IN BANGKOK

The year 2007 foresees an interesting calendar of cultural performances. Bangkok will be the hosting theatre of the many events presented by the Embassy of Italy in Thailand in collaboration with the various local partners and institutions.

The constant support shown by our many Thai partners surely reflects the growing interest in Italian culture amongst Thai people, as well as a firm willingness to further promote the mutual understanding of our traditions. Hence, the Embassy of Italy has been encouraged to strengthen and further increase the number of cultural events scheduled for this year.
