“THE CERAMIC DESIGN  DEVELOPMENT FOR NEW MARKETS IN A GLOBALIZED WORLD”, BY PROF. ARCH.

The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), Member of NSTDA, Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with Accademia Italiana and Italian Trade Commission jointly arranged a seminar on  “The ceramic design development for new markets in a globalized world”.  The seminar was organized at Accademia Italiana on the17th – 18th May 2007 and on the 21st – 22nd May 2007 at The Kasalong Room, Wienglakor Hotel, Lampang.

Prof. Arch. Francesco Cappuccio conducted the seminar.   The speaker presented a wide range of concepts of new modern ceramic products, the application of which is applied to a variety of object, from tableware to sanitary ware including tiles.  The seminar aimed at helping Thai ceramic companies boost their product lines by using design to satisfy their customers, develop innovative products and open up new markets.

The seminar’s contents covered:

  • A wide range of new modern ceramic product, from tableware to sanitary ware including tiles.
  •  The new trends in house ware products and how to apply new trends to the products in our actual everyday life.
  •  The concept of a modern-day souvenir: how to change or modernize the concept of a souvenir; adaptations of a traditional one to one that satisfies modern tastes.
  •  A possible future for Thai ceramics; Theoretical and methodological perspective towards the study of Thai archaic symbols.  Prof.Arch.Cappuccio presented his research on the archaic symbol and how to apply and transform that symbol to a real product.
  •  A possible future for Thai ceramics.

The event was held on the 17th May 2007 at Accademia Italiana (Thailand) Fashion and Design Institute and was presided by Dr. Flavia Farruggio, Italian Trade Commissioner.
